The project was so successful, scientists would like to make this an annual event. According to the project organizers "The traditional approach would involve small groups of highly trained scientists, small sample sizes, lots of analytical equipment and a long turn-around time ... Be a "Citizen Donor" - Help to advance science projects you like

The SciFlies Network ™ is creating a system for "citizen donors" to link up with scientists and a research projects and make a direct donation to that scientist's work. This is an example of "crowdfunding" which can be very effective. This allows donors to fund projects that have very specific special meaning for them, providing more direct connection to the projects and their results. Here is more information about  this timely service, given the difficulty of finding funding in today's economic climate.
