Unprecedented 60% return in 48 hours for Atrazine testing in watershed
Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 4:06PM A "fantastic" 60% return of water samples in 48 hours achieved by Citizen Scientists testing for the herbicide Atrazine in the Omaha River watershed in Nebraska. The project was so successful, scientists would like to make this an annual event. According to the project organizers "The traditional approach would involve small groups of highly trained scientists, small sample sizes, lots of analytical equipment and a long turn-around time ... Our approach involves citizen scientists, very large sample sizes, easy to use equipment and an extremely short turn-around time."
